More than 125 different types of beers will be featured at Saturday’s Beerfest at the James Brown Arena.

“There’s so much more than the 10 brands that existed 20 years ago,” said Chris Bird, general manager of the Augusta Entertainment Complex.

From 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday, the eighth annual Beerfest will offer patrons the chance to sample the different types of beer.

Bird said with so many different varieties to choose from, people can try beers they might never consider if they were paying full price, and if they don’t like one, then there are plenty of other options to choose from.

All vendors have a license to sell their brews in Georgia, but not all of them are based in the peach state. Some brewers come from South Carolina, North Carolina and Florida.

Not only will there be the finest of craft beers in the area, but there will be a variety of food trucks on site.

Scheduled a week before the start of college football season, Beerfest is designed to be a day for people to kickback with friends and enjoy, and Bird said it ends early enough that once patrons leave, they can have dinner downtown.

“General admission tickets include one souvenir tasting cup, and access to all the beer you can sample. Beer enthusiasts will also have the opportunity to mingle with local brew masters and brewers from all over the region,”  according to event description at the Augusta Entertainment Complex website.

General admission tickets are $40 in advance and $50 the day of the event. They are available at aectix.com or the SRP Box office.
