Crime map week of March 23-29: More than 230 crimes committed in Richmond County, including one homicide

During the week of March 23-29, there were a total of 238 crimes tracked by The Augusta Press that were reported to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, including one homicide.

On March 24 in the 2400 block of Damascus Road, sheriff officers responded to the fatal shooting of 65-year-old Shirley Bush. A neighbor, Sarah Preddy, 25, is charged with murder in Bush’s death.

In addition to the homicide the sheriff’s office received calls about 86 assaults, eight of which were aggravated assaults, and another 29 were family violence battery. There were also four robberies reported and one case of false imprisonment.

Property crimes for the week included 13 burglaries, 25 vehicle break-ins, and 46 thefts.
