Cross Creek’s girls and boys basketball teams swept the Class 3A, Region 4 Tournament Championship with convincing wins on their home floor Friday to earn No. 1 seeds in the state playoffs.

The No. 8 ranked Lady Razorbacks topped Morgan County 57-39 to earn their fourth consecutive region championship and their sixth crown in the last eleven seasons under eighteen-year head coach Kim Schlein.

Junior Michaela Bogans scored 23 points, sophomore Brayla Harris added 21 and junior Tahjae Hawes chipped in 10 as Cross Creek improved to 22-4 for the season.

The No. 6 ranked Razorbacks topped Harlem 82-48 after breaking open a nine-point game at halftime with 47 second half points, including 16 by senior Antoine Lorrick and 12 by junior Quavon Henry. Cross Creek has won three of the last four region championships under fifth-year head coach Lawrence Kelly.

Lorrick, a 6’7” lock for region player of the year and all state honors, scored a game high 24 points.

Fellow senior Isam Anthony added 13 points, and Henry scored all 12 of his points in the second half.

The string of success for the Razorbacks during the past four years cements the school as the capital of championship basketball in the area. The girls and boys teams have combined to win three state championships during the past two seasons leading up to the coming playoffs. The boys have won back-to-back state titles and have appeared in the state championship game for three consecutive seasons. The girls won the state title in 2021.

The boys and girls will begin the playoffs at home either next Friday or Saturday against the four seed from region 3. As long as they keep winning, both teams will play at home for the first two rounds, and possibly the third. It will take five wins for Cross Creek’s teams to earn yet another state championship.
