Gourmet dessert shop Crumbl Cookie has burst on the area scene, and crowds have been swelling since its grand opening in Evans on April 22.
“We had a one of the most successful grand openings in history of Crumbl,” said Troy Akers, who owns the franchise with his wife, Nancy Akers.
The weekends of April 22 and April 29 saw the cookie shop’s Mullins Crossing location wrapped about with lines of would-be snackers. The unique model has the menu of specialty flavors—with names like hazelnut mudslide and pink velvet cupcake—changing up every week. Nancy Akers attributes the steadfast patronage so far to curiosity and speculation about what new cookie concoction will be available.
“On Sunday night they drop five specialty flavors that will be available from Monday to Saturday of that following week,” said Nancy Akers. “So you never know what it’s going to be, and a lot of people are excited and try to guess.”
Nancy says that that chocolate chip, which is always on the menu, along with chocolate and “fruity”-based flavors have so far proven the most popular with the Evans’ crowd.

The couple first met with Crumbl Corporate in July of last year, after learning that a franchise opportunity would be available in the area. The nearest franchise to the area is in Lexington, S.C. There are several in Georgia, mostly in the Atlanta area.
The site at the Mullins Colony shopping center was a calculated selection on the part of Crumbl.
“Crumbl is very particular in where they put their stores,” said Nancy Akers. “They like to be near a big stores such as Target or Trader Joe’s.”
She goes on to note that the Mullins Colony address was the “absolute perfect location,” with its proximity to Target and Chick-fil-A, and the popularity of the area in Evans.
“Our sales have stayed pretty steady; obviously not quite as high as the grand opening weekend, but there hasn’t been much of a drop,” saikd Troy Akers. “There’s a lot of people that still don’t know about Crumbl, and they hear about it from friends or they get cookies delivered to their office, and so the people of Evans and their surrounding communities have been really great at supporting us and we really appreciate it.”
