The CSRA Mustang Club presented a check to Columbia County Community Connections at Tuesday’s county commission meeting.

This past Labor Day weekend, the CSRA Mustang Club held a national show in Columbia County. There were over 350 cars on display and over 700 people displaying their cars from all over the nation. During the meeting, representatives of the CSRA Mustang Club praised and thanked county officials for letting the show.

The CSRA Mustang Club was able to donate a total of $30,000 to two organizations, one being a check for $5,000 for Columbia County Community Connections that serves families and children in Columbia County.

“We have two goals when we put on an MCA national show. One is to showcase our area and the other is money for our charities,” said CSRA Mustang Club President Tom Petrak.

Columbia County Board of Commissioners approved a request for a revision of a major S-1 revision for property located at 475 Clear Sky Drive at Tuesday’s meeting.

Miami-based MSG Clear Sky, LLC submitted a zoning application to Columbia County’s planning department on Sept. 19, requesting a revision to the S-1 special zoning at its property.

This 12-acre parcel is the site of an industrial building, approximately 150,000 square feet. According to the Columbia County planning commission document, the primary tenant, FLSchmidt Inc, was the only one that could operate on the property since the land was zoned S-1 in 2018.

The narrative document accompanying the application notes that though FLSchmidt was originally planned to occupy the entire space, “due to changes in the primary tenants needs,” some 62,500 square feet of the building have not been utilized.

“The overall reason cited by the applicant to request this revision is that due to a change in the primary tenant’s needs, 62,500 square feet of the building have not been utilized and an expansion of the allowed uses will allow occupation of this space,” according to Columbia County planning commission document.

Columbia County will have its planning commission on Thursday, Nov. 17. The next commission meeting will be Tuesday, Dec. 6 at 6 p.m.
