Wednesday’s rain may give way to more disruptive weather, as the National Weather Service office in Columbia has begun a flood watch in the CSRA expected to go through Thursday.

Richmond and Columbia Counties are among the areas where a flood advisory has been in effect since 5:26 p.m., Wednesday, amid showers and a possible imminent thunderstorm as a six mph northeast wind comes through.

More rainfall is expected Thursday, possibly culminating in a thunderstorm by 2 p.m. with a six mph east wind. Flash flooding as a result of the heavy rain is possible throughout most of the CSRA, according to the Weather Service, and the flood advisory is scheduled, as of the publishing of this article, until Thursday at 7 p.m.

Other counties included in the flood advisory are Burke, McDuffie and Lincoln in Georgia, and Aiken, Edgefield, Barnwell and McCormick in South Carolina.
