The health inspection world grades a score below 70 as failing, and one restaurant did receive a failing score in their recent health inspection from Aug. 26-30.
Worst scores in this week’s health inspection
This week’s top lowest score was a tie between the Sheraton Augusta Hotel, located at 1069 Stevens Creek Road, and Dairy Queen, at 3102 Peach Orchard Road, with a score of 80.
At the Sheraton Hotel, the inspector deducted points for improper disinfection levels and a leaking pump.
In Peach Orchard’s Dairy Queen, the inspector noted dishes not being properly cleaned before reuse.
“Observed employees just rinsing dishes off and using them again,” the inspector wrote.
The inspector also observed food being prepared without proper labeling and pests in the kitchen.
“Observed gnats and flies throughout the whole kitchen,” the report included. “Clean up old food and have pest control treat for the insects.”
This week’s second lowest score was given to Mercado Emanuel and Antojitos Emanuel, located at 3009 Peach Orchard Road.
Inspector’s comments highlighted employees washing hands without the use of soap, and insects being let in.
“Observed hand washing sink with no paper towels and soap,” the report stated. “Observed door being left open to the outdoors and letting in insects.”
The report also stated food with improper labeling being used.
“Observed multiple containers in [reach-in-cooler] that had no prep and discard dates,” the inspector noted.
The third lowest score was an 84 earned by the Comfort Suites, at 2911 Riverwest Drive.
The inspector noted that the 911 phone needed to be repaired or replaced as one was “unable to hear the 911 operator clearly.”
The inspector also observed the pool being maintained at an incorrect pH level. One not ranging between 7.2-7.8.
