One of the Augusta area’s top players made his college choice official Monday afternoon.
North Augusta senior DaRon Dunbar signed his letter of intent to play for Augusta University Monday during a signing ceremony in North Augusta High School’s weight room.
His signing gives AU coach Dip Metress the ability to add one of South Carolina’s most versatile basketball talents to his recruiting class. The 6-foot-4 North Augusta senior has a diverse skill set that allows him to score and defend in multiple ways.
Dunbar spoke earlier about his commitment to Augusta, saying his ability to stay home for his college basketball career was something that excited him. He, with a strong returning nucleus of fellow Yellow Jackets, will look to pursue another SCHSL Region 4-AAAA championship and deep state tournament run after doing so last season with a 21-8 overall record.
North Augusta opens its regular season on Saturday Nov. 23 with a matchup against Wren in The ‘Ville Turkey Tip-Off.
