Date: October 02, 2025

A 17-year-old student at Davidson Fine Arts Magnet School remains in custody after being charged with making a terroristic threat against a classmate through a social media post.

Miles Powell-Williams was arrested Tuesday and charged with terroristic threats and acts, a felony offense. He is currently being held without bond at the Charles B. Webster Detention Center.

According to authorities, the incident began Monday when Powell-Williams allegedly posted a threatening message on Instagram about a 16-year-old classmate. The victim discovered the post Tuesday morning upon arriving at school, and he reported it to an assistant principal, providing a screenshot as evidence.

The message reportedly stated that if the classmate “keeps stimmin in APUSH,” the suspect would “blow that dome clean off.”

“Stimming” refers to repetitive movements or actions, often used by individuals, particularly those who are neurodivergent, to self-regulate emotions or sensory input. “APUSH” is a common abbreviation for Advanced Placement U.S. History, a college-level history class offered at Davidson.

An arrest warrant accuses Powell-Williams of threatening to commit a violent act toward the student.

As of Wednesday, there has been no public statement from the Richmond County School System regarding the arrest. Powell-Williams remains listed on the school’s website and Facebook page, where he is recognized for artistic accomplishments. A February post from the school noted his advancement to the next round of the Governor’s Honors Program 2025 and includes his photo.
