Applications being accepted for free and reduced meals in area schools

A grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture provided funding to allow the Columbia County School District to provide breakfast and lunch to all children at no cost for the past two years.

The funding is no longer available.

On July 1, the Columbia County School District began accepting free and reduced meal applications. The application is available at www.ccboe.net/nutrition/

The following meal costs will be applied beginning with the 2022-2023 school year:
• Breakfast – $1.50
• Lunch – $2.85
• Reduced Cost Breakfast – $0.30
• Reduced Cost Lunch – $0.40
• Adult Breakfast – $2
• Adult Lunch – $3.75

In Aiken County, the system has yet to begin accepting applications for the 2022-2023 school year.

“We are experiencing a delay with accepting online meal application due to transitioning to a new software program. Our apologies for any inconvenience this delay may cause,” according to the Aiken County School District’s website.

Aiken County will begin accepting applications July 15.

Meal Prices for 2022-2023 School Year:

  • Breakfast $2
  • Reduced cost breakfast $0.30
  • Elementary school lunch $2.85
  • Middle and high school lunch $3
  • Reduced lunch $0.40
