Date: January 05, 2025

A woman was found deceased Saturday afternoon at a residence on Jones near 14th Street in Augusta, prompting an investigation by the Richmond County Coroner’s Office.

The Coroner’s Office responded to the scene at approximately 4:05 p.m. Saturday, where the woman was pronounced dead. While her death is currently being treated as suspicious, authorities have not released further details regarding the circumstances surrounding her passing.

An autopsy will be scheduled to help identify her and the cause of death, Coroner Mark Bowen said. Authorities say that the woman’s name will be made public once she is properly identified and the next of kin has been notified.

At this time, the investigation remains in its early stages, and no additional information has been provided.
