Augusta’s debris removal contractor has completed final passes in areas of District 7 and is finalizing passes in other parts of the city.

Total loads of Hurricane Helene debris reached 3.2 million cubic yards and 59,456 total loads as of Monday in Richmond County, according to a news release from the city

A final pass — meaning an area has been certified as complete — has been finished in three areas. Those are voting precincts 702, 703 and 709 in the National Hills community.

Also in District 7, Precinct 707 is 90% complete and Precinct 706 is 50% complete, according to the city.

A final pass is in progress in areas of District 1. Precinct 112 downtown is 70% complete while precincts 102 and 109, around May Park and the Kroc Center, are 50% complete. Precincts 104 and 106 also are in their final pass.

Elsewhere in the city, a final pass is just beginning in precincts 103, 105, 111, 203 and 708.

An initial pass is in progress in all other areas, according to the city.

To find out your voting precinct number, you can look it up on the city’s debris removal heat map. The map shows a breakdown of pickups along city streets by day and precinct.

Important reminders for efficient pickup

Officials have issued guidelines for residents to ensure the efficiency of debris collection:

  1. Place storm-related vegetative debris at the right-of-way — contractors cannot enter private property.
  2. Do not mix debris with household waste such as construction materials, leaves or pinestraw.
  3. Avoid blocking essential infrastructure like roads, water meters, mailboxes or utility poles.
  4. Residents who notice unmapped storm debris in their area are encouraged to report it through Augusta 311.
