Augusta has a new state House member in Democrat L.C. Myles Jr., who won the House District 126 seat formerly held by Rep. Gloria Frazier, D-Hephzibah, Tuesday.

Republican William Harris

The veteran and former IT manager and longtime party official warded off a challenge by Republican William Harris, the veteran and retired educator who challenged Frazier several times.

Myles thanked voters for electing him.

“I look forward to working with our local delegation and the other state representatives to continue moving the counties of Richmond, Jenkins and Burke forward,” he said.

Myles won 58% of the vote to Harris’ 42%. Harris won Jenkins and Burke with 67% and 56% of the vote. But Myles won big in Richmond County, where he garnered 15,438 votes or 58% of the total.
