The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office is looking for witnesses to a Wednesday morning shooting on Jefferson Davis Highway in Aiken County.
At 9:42 a.m. May 18, a woman called 911 telling dispatchers that she been shot. A deputy patrolling in the 1800 block of Jefferson Davis Hwy came upon a white Honda Accord stopped in the middle of the road, finding the injured woman. She been shot at least once to her abdomen, according to a news release from the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies gave aid until Aiken County emergency services arrived where she was taken to an area hospital for emergency treatment. The victim was traveling on Jefferson Davis Hwy towards Augusta.

Investigators have determined that the shooting occurred while the victim was driving and that the suspect(s) could have been driving in the same direction.
Investigators are asking for the community’s help for any information on this
investigation especially from any witnesses who were traveling on Jefferson Davis Hwy during
this incident. They could have been traveling toward Augusta or toward Aiken.
“Community assistance is important to any investigation. We ask that if anyone has any information that
would lead to the identity and whereabouts of any suspects, we encourage them to contact the
Aiken County Sheriff’s Office at (803) 648-6811. The suspects should be considered armed and
dangerous,” the news release said.
Information can be provided anonymously through Midlands Crime Stoppers. A
tip could earn a chase reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest of the
person(s) responsible for any crime.
