UPDATE: Trey Wright has been captured, the sheriff’s office announced Thursday.

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office is searching for Trey Wright, who is wanted in connection with a shooting that left two teenagers hospitalized Monday night in a Hephzibah subdivision.

According to the sheriff’s office, Wright is wanted for two counts of aggravated assault stemming from the incident on the 2800 block of Butler Manor Drive. Deputies said he is considered armed and dangerous and is known to frequent the Knollcrest Road area of Hephzibah.

Deputies responded to Butler Manor Drive around 8:20 p.m. Monday after reports of gunfire. On arrival, they found 18-year-old Christopher Brown on the front porch with gunshot wounds to his chest, abdomen, and left arm, and 16-year-old Ian Lane inside his bedroom with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. Both victims were transported to Wellstar Hospital in serious condition.

Witnesses, including the victims’ grandparents, told deputies they were inside the residence playing cards when they heard the shots. Both Brown and Lane said they were on the back porch when the shooting occurred. According to video evidence, the suspect was initially speaking with one of the victims on the porch when the second victim stepped outside. At that moment, the suspect pulled a gun and fired five times at both teens before fleeing on foot toward Leawood Drive. Investigators recovered five cartridge casings and a cell phone at the scene.

Anyone with information on Wright’s whereabouts is asked to contact Investigator Terence Miller or any Violent Crimes Investigator at (706) 821-1453, (706) 821-1020, or (706) 821-1080.
