Deputy arrested for using his county-issued fuel car for personal vehicle

A Richmond County Sheriff’s deputy has been arrested for using his county-issued fuel card to purchase gasoline for his personal vehicle.

Tyler Wood was arrested on June 30 after the June 21 incidence at the Circle K at 2631 Washington Rd. where he made two separate transactions – one for his patrol car and another for his person vehicle.

He has been charged with Financial Transaction Card Fraud and Violation of Oath of Office.

He had been with the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office since April 2021, and his termination is effective June 30. Wood was assigned to road patrol.
