Developers announce renovation project on Broad Street

Date: July 29, 2025

A section of downtown Augusta may be getting a facelift over the next year.

Monday morning the developers of Union Loft Apartments announced a redevelopment project along Broad Street’s 600 block.

The subject buildings are to be renovated into 40 apartments, including one-bedrooms, two bedrooms and studios; along with some 3,000 square feet of commercial space for small businesses. Developers also plan to install onsite parking, and amenities such grills and a resident lounge.

The retails bays in the prospective new space have been pre-leased to Breakwater, the hotel investment group behind the recently-announced plans to renovate the Ramada building, while leasing for the apartments is to open summer of next year.

The living spaces will be targeted toward medical students and young professionals, developers said in the press release disclosing the project. Construction on the redevelopment, which is as yet unnamed, is scheduled to begin in September, in time for completion by December of 2026.
