Whether or not you make it out to the course this week, there’s one hot item that everyone wants: the food.
While we can’t get you a pass to the Augusta National to taste their pimento cheese, egg salad, Azalea cocktails or peach ice cream sammies, we can offer the next best thing: Local eateries serving up dupes of some of my favorite Masters foods.
Pimento cheese
It’s a relatively simple recipe: shredded cheddar with pimentos, bound with mayo and seasoned with a dash of spices. But it’s the right mayo and the right spices all in the right proportion that serve up magic. To make it Masters, dollop yours on two slices of squishy white bread and press it together gently.

Egg salad
Local legend has it that this egg salad recipe was the original served at the Augusta National during Masters Week. You can get it at local Wife Savers. It’s fluffy, eggy and creamy. Local favorites Hildebrandt’s in downtown Augusta (celebrating more than 140 years in business) and Village Deli in Daniel Village also serve up yummy varieties.

Barbecue sandwich
The dark horse on the Masters menu may be the hot barbecue sandwich. I love it especially on cooler or rainy days, with its sweet dark red sauce and tender meat on a soft white bun. Try the BBQ Barn’s version with its tender smoked pork and season it with your choice of sauce.

Tournament Watch Party Kits
Missed your chance to order the Masters kit that includes pimento cheese, egg salad and so much more? You can still get your taste of the “Masters” with a Tournament Watch Party Kit from Sweet Azalea Gourmet Shop and Catering. You must order 24 hours in advance, and kits are available to serve four to six, eight or 10 people, with prices starting at $35.

Peach Ice Cream Sandwich
It’s rich vanilla ice cream dotted with golden peaches between two soft sugar cookies. I’ve had the pleasure of tasting the original, and I may cause a ruckus, but I think this version by Wife Saver Fury’s Ferry may be even better.

Azalea cocktail
