The gourmet cookie shop Dirty Dough will be closing later this month, after nearly two years in business at the Augusta Exchange.
Management made the announcement on Monday via the store’s Facebook, noting that the dessert shop’s food truck will also be ceasing its operations after the store’s last day on July 19.
“This decision hasn’t been easy. We’ve absolutely loved being part of the Augusta community, sharing laughs, stories, and — of course — cookies with you. From first bites to family traditions, every visit has meant the world to us,” read the social media post, which went on to encourage customers to visit during the shop’s final two weeks for “one last sugar rush” to “turn these last days into a sweet celebration of everything we’ve built together.”
Mike Ralphs opened the franchise location between McAlister’s Deli and V’s Barbershop in the fall of 2023, about a year after he and his family moved to North Augusta from Utah.
After the closing, the nearest location of the Arizona-based bakery chain will be in Dalton, Ga. While Dirty Dough has more than 50 locations throughout the U.S., most of its Southeast stores are in Florida, and none, currently are in South Carolina.
In 2022, rival cookie shop chain Crumbl Cookie sued the chain for trademark infringement. After Dirty Dough settled with its competitor under undisclosed terms, it was acquired by Illinois restaurant platform company Craveworthy Brands.
Dirty Dough, until July 19, is located at 3602 Exchange Lane in Augusta.
