The founders of DiVino Ristorante Italiano in North Augusta announced the closing of their Hammond’s Ferry Italian eatery after seven years in order to spend more time with family.
“We have decided that the time has come for our family to take a new path,” The Petruzzi family said in a post on their former restaurant’s Facebook page.
Andrea and Marion Petruzzi opened the restaurant in Hammond’s Ferry in 2016 after moving from Florence, Italy, partly because Marion’s father lived in North Augusta.
They said their goals in life changed recently after their chef, Leonardo Accorsi, who previously worked in top restaurants in Florence for 40 years, suddenly passed away in July 2022 at the age of 65.
“Life challenged us,” they wrote. “We accepted and overcame these challenges but couldn’t find our ‘why’ anymore.”
The founders said they will pursue new ventures and prioritize their family life.
“We have learned this past year how fragile life is,” they said.
