Doctors Hospital debuts new orthopedic care center

Date: April 18, 2025

Doctors Hospital, with the help of the Augusta Metro Chamber of Commerce, cut the ribbon on its new Doctors Specialists – Orthopedics center, Thursday afternoon.

The new care center serves as the orthopedic office at the wing of Doctors Hospital devoted to specialized care, providing orthopedic surgery—including total joint surgery—treatment for joint pains and sports injuries.

“It definitely provides orthopedic surgery opportunities for those in West Augusta and Columbia County, close to home,” said Mark Kneeling, nurse practitioner with the Orthopedics center.

The 6,300-square foot facility includes several exam areas, two new cast rooms with tables to accommodate patients on stretchers and adjustable beds, and X-ray rooms.

The care office has been in development for the past year, partly prompted by the arrival of orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Steinberg to Doctors Hospital, explained Doctors Hospital CEO Joanna Conley.

“Certainly, as we welcomed Dr. Steinberg in our community, we wanted to make sure he had a great place to practice,” Conley said. “We’re excited to continue to expand orthopedic care, both for our patients in the hospital as well as those who are looking to be treated in a clinic setting.”

Conley also indicated aims for the new office to expand in tandem with the growth of the hospital, bringing additional physicians into the practice.

Doctors Specialists – Orthopedics is located at 3647 J. Dewey Cir., Ste 200C.
