Richmond County investigators say a domestic incident that turned violent led to a fatal shooting Sunday evening on the 3400 block of Lucie Street.

Lt. James Kelly of the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were called to the residence around 6:45 p.m. for a report of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found a male victim with an apparent gunshot wound. He died at the scene and was pronounced deceased by the Coroner’s Office.

Coroner Mark Bowen confirmed his office responded to what he classified as a homicide, reporting the man had been shot at least once. An autopsy has been scheduled.

Authorities say the shooting stemmed from a domestic situation, though no additional details have been released. The victim’s name is being withheld pending notification of his family.

The Sheriff’s Office says the investigation remains in its early stages, and no further information is available at this time.
