The health inspection world grades a score below 70 as failing, however, no restaurants, pools or hotels received a failing score from inspections conducted on Nov. 17–21.
Worst scores in this week’s health inspection
This week’s lowest health inspection score was an 85 earned by Double Tree Hotel of Augusta’s Outdoor Pool 2, located at 2651 Perimeter Parkway, in Augusta.
During the inspection, the inspector the pool’s pH balance was off from the 7.2 to 7.8 standard, and deducted 15 points from the health score.
“pH was 6.8,” the report stated.
The second lowest score of the week was another 85 given to Knights Inn, located at 3054 Deans Bridge Road, in Augusta.
The inspector deducted five points for witnessing hot water at 125 degrees Fahrenheit.
“Observed hot water at 125 degrees F in room 112,” the report stated. “Adjust hot water so temperature will not exceed 120 degrees F.”
During the inspection, the inspector deducted two more points for a cracked sink.
“Observed damaged/cracked sink in room 103. Observed water on restroom floor in room 208. Observed dirty tub, sink, and water in room 202,” the report stated. “Clean and repair.”
The inspector deducted another four points finding damaged furniture in rooms.
“Observed damaged chairs in room 202, 208, 225, and 116,” the report stated. “Repair or replace.”
An additional four points was deducted from the inspector finding more damage to the Inn’s rooms.
“Observed ceiling peeling and falling into rooms 208 and 225,” the report stated.
For a lack of smoke detectors in rooms 116 and 101, according to the inspection report, the establishment lost another four points. Finally, four more points were deducted from the score for dirty pillowcases bring present in rooms.
“Observed dirty pillow cases in rooms 201 and 103. Hole in blanket in room 103. Observed dirty linens in room 208 and dirty mattress in room 202,” the report stated. “Clean or replace).”
Following the inn’s inspection, the third lowest score of the week was an 86 given to Victoria’s Cosina Mexicana, located at 3714 Mike Padgett Highway, Unit D, in Augusta.
The inspector deducted nine points for finding food improperly stored.
“Observed raw chicken and ground beef stored over ready to eat food” the report stated. “Ensure proper storage order inside [walk-in-cooler] with raw chicken being the very bottom and ready to eat food at the top.”
During the inspection, the inspector deducted three more points for noticing more food being stored improperly.
“Observed containers of food stored on floor of [walk in freezer,” the report stated. “Keep all containers of food at least six inches off the floor.”
