Downed trees reported in Grovetown after Friday’s storm

Severe weather in the area has resulted in some problems including downed trees and power lines.

The Grovetown Police Department reported at 5:38 p.m. Friday that it is currently responding to/or on scene of the following Weather-Related Incidents. A power line is down at 5155 Wrightsboro Rd; power lines and poles are down at Goodale Park, 5200 Wrightsboro Rd. and a tree is blocking the road at 1034 Newmantown Rd. Also a tree and power lines at down at Green Street and West Robinson Avenue, according to an email from Chief Jamey Kitchens, with the Grovetown Police Department.

No injuries have been reported. 

Around the Augusta area, there have been reports of hail and driving rain.

The National Weather Service in Columbia had issued a severe thunderstorm watch for several counties and a warning for others in the Augusta area.
