A week after a 17-year-old male was found naked and brutally beaten in North Augusta, authorities have arrested four people and seized over two pounds of drugs.
Among those arrested is 35-year-old Raquel Stevens, the same math teacher who was arrested in 2018 for leaving her toddler in her car for 10 hours while she worked at North Augusta Middle School. She is a veteran teacher and mother of three.
In the drug bust, Aiken County authorities began an investigation after a teen was found Jan. 3 laying on the side of Atomic Road unclothed and badly beaten. His face was so swollen that officers could barely understand what he was saying, a sheriff’s report says. He communicated that he had been in the road all night.
On Wednesday, the assault investigation led to search warrants at 339 Edisto Drive in North Augusta and 692 Swamp Road in Beech Island. Officers identified 36-year-old Patrick Omar Stevens of North Augusta and 32-year-old Derrick Lydale Nixon of Beech Island as suspects involved in the assault.
Investigators seized over two pounds of marijuana, crack cocaine, powder cocaine, anabolic steroids and fentanyl, Sheriff’s Capt. Eric Abdullah said in a press release. North Augusta Department of Public Safety, Aiken Department of Public Safety and the ATF Rage Unit assisted with these investigation.
