Early voting ends in Richmond County ahead of Tuesday’s election

 Early voting in Richmond County’s runoff races outpaced previous runoffs by a wide margin.

Voters cast 7,779 early ballots from June 13-17 in the runoff according to figures released by Travis Doss, executive director of the Richmond County Board of Elections.

In contrast, a 2020 runoff for three commission seats drew 1,647 early voters, and a 2018 runoff saw 1,629 early ballot casters.

There will be no voting on Saturday and city offices are closed Monday for Juneteenth.

Voters could cast ballots early in three races including the mayoral race former Tax Commissioner Steven Kendrick and businessman Garnett Johnson; Incumbent District 10 Commissioner John Clarke and former Augusta Commissioner Wayne Guilfoyle; and In District 2,  either retired educator Von Pouncey or businesswoman Stacy Pulliam.

The runoff election day is Tuesday, June 21.
