A local zero-waste refill store is working this week to bring in money for various eco-friendly causes.
Earth Pantry is celebrating Earth Week by raising funds for conservation organizations over the next five days.
“It is a great opportunity for regular grocery shopping to help change the world one choice at a time,” said store owner Alexia Redman.
Shopping for good
Each day of the week from Tuesday to Saturday, 2% of sales will be donated to a different organization depending on the day. The schedule is as follows:
- Tuesday, April 22 – Ocean Conservancy
- Wednesday, April 23 – Coral Restoration Foundation
- Thursday, April 24 – Low Country Marine Mammal
- Friday, April 25 – Plant for Purpose
- Saturday, April 26 – Turtle Survival Alliance
Shoppers can also get 15% off their purchase by picking up trash; participants can tag @TheEarthPantry on Instagram in photos or videos of themselves cleaning up downtown or in their community.
Redman said that Genesis 2:15 inspires her to care for the Earth.
“God created us to steward His creation,” she said. “What an incredible responsibility and honor!”
Pop ups to look for
Local pop ups will make appearances at Earth Pantry this week, including herbal medicine business ABECA Naturals on Tuesday, Clemson University Microplastic Research Team on Saturday, musician and artist Billy S. on Tuesday and Saturday and Roots Produce on Saturday.
