Eleven individuals have been indicted in Richmond County on 42 counts linked to gang activity, firearm offenses, and a violent drive-by shooting that endangered two residents, including an 11-year-old child.
The indictment, announced Monday by Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr, follows a presentation by the state’s Gang Prosecution Unit to a Richmond County Grand Jury on Sept. 30.
The charges stem from a May 4, 2025, drive-by shooting where approximately 13 rounds were fired into a home occupied by a child and a 20-year-old adult. The attack occurred just hours after two earlier shootings at Suz Lounge in Augusta. The indictment alleges that the defendants are members or associates of Youngins with Money (Y.W.M.), a hybrid criminal street gang operating in Augusta. Some of the suspects have been arrested while others are still being sought.
“This indictment is yet another example of our commitment to combating gang activity wherever it occurs, and we’ll ensure those responsible are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” said Attorney General Carr. “No one should have to worry about bullets flying through their home because of a senseless gang conflict, but far too many families live in fear. That’s exactly why we created our Gang Prosecution Unit.”
The investigation was led by the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office Gang Unit and the Attorney General’s Gang Prosecution Unit. Together, they have indicted nearly 50 suspected gang members in Richmond County this year, including five individuals accused in the May 22, 2025, fatal shooting of 28-year-old Kameron Mason at MacArthur Park Apartments.
Richmond County Sheriff Eugene Brantley emphasized the importance of ongoing collaboration with the Attorney General’s office. “Gang life is a dead end, and we are working tirelessly to ensure our young people understand this before it’s too late,” said Brantley. “We will continue to pursue and prosecute those who choose to live outside the rules of society.”
Each of the 11 individuals faces multiple charges, including violation of the street gang terrorism and prevention act, drive-by shooting, aggravated assault, possession of illegal weapons, possession of firearms by convicted felons, and cruelty to children. Several are also charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and criminal damage to property.
As with all criminal cases, the charges in the indictment are allegations, and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
