The health inspection world grades a score below 70 as failing, however, no restaurants, pools or hotels received a failing score from inspections on Dec. 27–Jan. 3.
Worst scores in this week’s health inspection
This week’s lowest health inspection score was a 83 earned by Sleep Inn & Suites’ food service, located at 456 Park West Drive, in Grovetown.
The inspector noted seeing no hand washing station in the kitchen, which resulted in a four point reduction.
“Observed no hand sink supplied in kitchen area, only 3 compartment sink. 3 compartment sink only for dishwashing not hand washing,” the report stated.
The inspector also noted observing no hand soap or hand towels accessible for employees.
“Observed no hand soap or hand towels accessible, only dish soap,” the report stated. “Keep hand sink stocked with hand soap and hand towels.”
Lastly, the inspector noted seeing food improperly stored, and the previous health inspection report not posted for patrons to see.
“Observed hot holding items not temping above 135 F [degrees], eggs are at 115 F [degrees] and sausage is at 130 F [degrees],” the report stated.
Following the Sleep Inn & Suites’ inspection, the second lowest score of the week was an 85 given to Barberitos, located at 1151 Agerton Lane, in Augusta.
The inspector reported finding bacteria buildup inside an ice shoot, which resulted in a four point reduction.
“Observed green & black buildup inside the ice shoot,” the report stated.
The inspector also noted observing food scoops improperly stored.
“Observed the scoops improperly stored with handles in food inside chicken & beef at the front food service area,” the report stated.
The third lowest score of the week was a score of 85 given to the Augusta Marriott Hotel and Suites Pool, located at 3 Ninth St., in Grovetown.
From the inspection, the inspector docked 15 points for noticing a broken emergency phone at the pool.
“Observed phone not functioning,” the report stated.
