TheClubhou.se is offering a Make Startups Certificate of Entrepreneurship Pilot Program available to those interested in starting their own business and learning about the ins and outs thereof. The program is sponsored by a joint effort among the Partnership for Inclusive Innovation, Georgia Power Foundation, and Wells Fargo Foundation.
“It’s to help adults be more successful in both the launching and sustaining of their business,” Grace Belangia said. She’s the co-founder of Make Startups, a country-wide company that grows community economies by equipping entrepreneurs with the tools to get to work.
The application process is open until the end of March. Applicants are then screened and a total of 25 will be accepted in the program. There is a 12-week period of hands-on training and an additional 24 weeks of one-on-one mentoring afterwards, giving applicants ample time to have questions answered and problems workshopped.
The program entails attending classes, meeting with personal mentors, and completing assignments. The workspace’s full range of resources is available to the students, and the experiential learning assignments are built to help develop and grow a real business, not operating only in hypotheticals.

“These resources will help with the COVID-19 economic recovery for those that either lost their jobs or want to navigate into business ownership as opposed to working for someone else,” Belangia said.
Completing the program means a student demonstrates skills necessary to build and grow a business for sustained success. The expertise can lead a graduate to pursue business development on their own or prepare for leadership roles in existing ones.
“What we’ve found is that through access to the capital, education and mentorships, and having it be a community is important,” Belangia said of the program’s benefits. “Knowing someone else is going through the same challenges whether it’s acquiring customers, creating a presence on social media– that’s really the bones of how theClubhou.se is most successful, making those connections– and nobody else is really doing that.”
