A $50 million mixed-use apartment project is moving forward but with some minor modifications. The address for the project is 850 Ronald Reagan Drive and 732 North Belair Road.

The Columbia County Commission voted unanimously to approve to amend the PUD zoning to allow for the locations of the buildings to be shifted on the site. The change should not affect the number of units in the project. The site is slated for 300 upscale apartments spanning over six buildings.
Formerly the 8.55+/- acre site was occupied by Marshal Square senior home which was destroyed by a fire in 2015.

The same developer was involved in the highly controversial apartments next to River Island which caused an uproar from surrounding residents.
So far, the Evans Towne Center project has met little to no resistance from residents.
Other tenants in the 57.5-acre PUD development include Evans Fitness, Evans Dermatology, First Command, Your Pie, Stay Social Tap & Table, the new Columbia County Performing Arts Center, and the former TaxSlayer corporate office recently purchased by Columbia County and expected to be the county judicial office location pending the judicial split break with Richmond and Burke Counties.
