Land at 2029 William Few Pkwy., owned by Evans Christian Academy, could soon be rezoned from S-1 (Special District) to P1 (Professional) in order for two medical buildings to be built on the property.
“We are proposing to sell 2.09 acres of the property that will give us some cash flow to eventually be able to go forward with having a school there on the rest of the property,” said Freida Lachman, director of the school. It is Lachman’s name on the rezoning application as well.

The parcel of land the academy has applied to have rezoned is 2.09 acres, but the entire property is closer to 16 acres, Lachman said.
“The realtor, Ruth Brosnahan, said originally they were interested in a little over an acre and it eventually became two acres,” Lachman said. “Currently, a cell phone tower is the only thing on the property.”

Neither Lachman nor Brosnahan provided any information on the identity of a potential buyer.
“We hope it will be approved because it would be a win-win for the school. The school doesn’t need all the land for what they have planned for the rest of the property,” Brosnahan said. “We don’t know exactly what will go on that tract yet, but the people interested are ones that would construct a professional space.”

Lachman said that she was approached by the potential buyers as opposed to her seeking anyone out.
“I was not interested in selling or advertising it,” she said. “I had tried to sell the whole property previously, but we sold our other building and decided we would build there.”
Evans Christian Academy is currently located at 4227 Columbia Rd., also the site of Our Savior Episcopal Church.
The Columbia County Planning Commission will hear the matter at the Dec. 2 meeting.
