Evans Elementary student facing criminal charges after being found with knife on campus

An Evans Elementary School student is facing criminal charges after being found with a knife on campus and reportedly making threatening comments to another student.

According to a notice sent out by the school, the Columbia County School District Police and the student was found to be in possession of the blade. The knife was secured and the student is facing criminal charges, along with consequence according to the code of conduct.

“Safety of students and staff is a top priority, and we take incidents such as these extremely seriously. Parents, please speak with your student about the dangers of bringing inappropriate items to school and the serious consequences that will follow. Suspicious behavior should be reported to a teacher, administrator, or the Columbia County School District Police. We thank those who came forward with information related to this incident. Remember, if you see something, say something. Working together, we can continue to provide a safe, positive environment for students and staff,” the notice said.
