An Evans man has been charged with shooting his ex-girlfriend in the face on Wednesday night, according to Richmond County authorities.
Jaden Ross, 20, is accused of shooting 20-year-old Brenleigh Kitchens of Hephzibah. The shooting took place on Aintree Road in Augusta. The sheriff’s office said Thursday morning that the victim remained in critical condition. But later, Coroner Mark Bowen announced that she had died at 5:45 p.m. Thursday at Augusta University Medical Center.

“RCSO Investigators, along with the assistance of the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, arrested Ross at his residence on the 1400 Block of Andover Court last night at 11:00 PM on the charges of Aggravated Assault (Family Violence) and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime,” a press release said.
Additional charges may be forthcoming as the criminal investigation continues, the release said.
