Evans man says Trump flags a likely cause of diaper dumps

A Google Maps Image from October 2022 shows Trump flags and an American flag in an Evans yard where dirty diapers have been dumped recently.

An Evans man who flies Trump flags in his yard said he has been subjected to daily dumps of dirty diapers in his yard.

Sean Michael Nelson, 49, told sheriff’s officials Friday that a white Audi drives by his house daily and throws dirty diapers in his ditch on Halali Farm Road in Evans.

“The unknown subject has also thrown several empty soda bottles in his yard,” a sheriff’s report says.

The homeowner said he passed the suspect’s Audi the other day and observed what he believed to be a black male driving.

“Mr. Nelson suspects the person throwing items in his yard is doing it because of his Trump flags,” the report says.

The incident would not be the first Columbia County resident to tell authorities about wrath for their support of former President Donald Trump. In 2021, an elderly Evans woman said she made a pro-Trump post on Facebook. She said someone messaged her making threatening comments.

In November 2020, an Evans man reported the theft of a Trump sign in his yard by “a white female wearing a red shirt and black leggings.” A camera showed the woman running into his yard and taking a Trump sign and then running to a white Dodge Ram and then driving off.

Several other Trump signs were also reported stolen from various homes in Columbia County during the election season in 2020.
