Go big or gourd home this first fall weekend, by searching for a way to make your pumpkin picking, hay riding and other autumn activities even more wonderfall this season.

Family Fun
- Take a trip to Pendleton King Park, located at 1600 Troupe St., and explore a vintage fall market from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 24. The market will feature retro, antique and hand craft items, as well as almost 30 vendors. For more information, the River City Events Facebook.
- For those 5 years old and over, Wine and Design is hosting a “Paint your Pumpkin” event for children from 12:30 to 2 p.m. at 229 Furys Ferry Road. While walk-ins are allowed for the event, reservations are preferred, and those who do not purchase a slot in advance will incur a small fee.
On Friday and Saturday, Oct. 13 and 14, Fort Gordon will host a free-to-the-public fall festival from 5 to 11 p.m. The event will showcase many vendors and areas of interests, including: a barbecue blaze competition, a keg tapping ceremony, live entertainments, pet adoptions, kid activities and more.- Hosted by Boondocks Farms, a Harvest Festival will be held on Oct. 14 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and highlight festive foods, a farmer’s market, live music and arts and crafts. Free to the public, the farms are located at 755 Foreman St. in Jackson, S.C.
On Saturday, Oct. 14, a Lakeside Pop Warner Fall Festival will be hosted at the Augusta Classic Collision, located at 3069 Washington Road. The event will include several different competitions, such as the chili cookoff, a pumpkin carving contest, a car show and even more vendors. Families are also encouraged to stick around the event for the vehicular version of Disney’s Lightning McQueen, who is expected to make an appearance around 11 p.m. to 3 p.m. In addition, three car rides in Lightning McQueen will be auctioned off to support the cause.- On Sept. 23, Steed’s Dairy Farm will open for the season on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and on Sundays from 1 to 7 p.m. Located at 4634 Wrightsboro Road, in Grovetown, general admission to the farm includes: cow-milking demonstrations, a five acre corn maze, hayrides, a petting zoo, a pumpkin patch, a giant jumping pillow, rubber duckie races, kid’s zipline, pony cart rides and a play area. Tickets range $12 per person for ages 3 and up, with kids 2 years and younger being admitted for free, and $9 per person for seniors, military and groups of 15 or more.
Adult Activities:
- Available every Monday, Friday and Sunday until Oct. 20, Tire City Potters invites art enthusiasts to make a “Forever Pumpkin” – hand thrown terracotta that has been dried to a consistency which will allow participants to carve, sculpt, paint and create one’s own holiday luminary. Made from a highly rich clay that may stain clothes, attendees are recommended to wear appropriate clothing. On Sunday, Sept. 24, the Fatty Marsha Foundation will host Augusta’s third annual Fall Wine Festival from 1 to 4 p.m. at 4058 Gracewood Drive. Enjoy a vast array of entertainment, unlimited wine tastings, fall flavored mimosas, arts and crafts, food trucks, vendors and more. Tickets range from $45 to $55 and all proceeds will benefit sponsorships for women and children living with HIV in the CSRA. - Wanting an activity to accomplish with buddies? Grab your friends and join in on a special class at Wine and Design where artists will teach you how to create a cozy, chunky blanket on Oct. 21 from 1 to 4 p.m. Encompassed into a fun brunch, with a glass of wine, the class provides all materials and no artistic skills are needed to walk you through a step by step masterpiece. Participants are asked to arrive 15 to 20 minutes early to select colors.
