The health inspection world grades a score below 70 as failing, however, no restaurants, pools or hotels received a failing score from inspections on March 17-21.
Worst scores in this week’s health inspection
This week’s lowest health inspection score was a 79 earned by a Marco’s Pizza, located at 229 Furys Ferry Road, Suite 111, in Augusta.
During the inspection, the inspector noted observing food improperly stored, which resulted in a nine point deduction.
“Observed several TCS food items cold held above 41F [when in] the coolers,” the report stated.
The inspector also noted witnessing dishes being stored wet, resulting in another deducted point
“Observed wet nesting of clean dishes,” the report stated. “Allow dishes to properly air dry before stacking.”
The second lowest score of the week was a score of 82 given to Komma Tea, located at 3450 Wrightsboro Road, Suite 2156, in Augusta.
The inspector noted observing expired milk, which resulted in a four-point reduction.
“Observed several containers of plant base milk stored past use by dates,” the report stated.
The inspector also noted bug spray being stored by cleaning supplies, which resulted in a loss of four more points.
“Observed Raid ant and roach spray stored w/ cleaning supplies,” the report stated. “Residential bug spray is not permitted for food service establishments. If pest issue is present, consult w/ a licensed pest control operator.”
The tea cafe was also docked three points for the inspector seeing several containers without proper labeling.
“Observed liquids stored in [reach-in-cooler] outside of its original container w/ no labeling,” the report stated. “Label any food being stored outside its original packaging.”
