The beauty of longer lashes appealed to Nadine Pulling; however, they sometimes came at a higher price than she wanted to pay.
“I used to get lashes done at other places, too, you know, and I had a lot of allergic reactions and this and that [complications]. So, I was looking for something that’s a little bit more on the scale of ‘we really take care of our ladies’ and offer personalized service,” said Pulling, who celebrated the opening of her new Amazing Lash Studio off North Belair Road June 10.
Amazing Lash specializes in high-end lash extensions and has its own patented brand. Employees are required to be licensed cosmetologists or estheticians, and they receive additional training on the Amazing Lash products.
Customer safety is a priority at Amazing Lash, she said.

The new Evans’ studio offers a private environment where customers meet one-on-one with their stylists. Given her own previous bad experiences, Pulling wants to make sure her customers never encounter those problems..
“It’s more of just a posh, sort of pampering kind of situation here,” she said.
Picking the right style of lashes can be daunting for those who’ve never had lash extensions before. The GlamCam is available to help those customers choose their specific look, according to Susan Dilworth, marketing and brand communication director.
“Of course, a lot of people haven’t had their lashes done or know what they look like, or know what style they want, so we have an app that scans your face, and it puts different styles of lashes on you,” said Dilworth. “You can find what you like, screenshot it and show your stylist that photo, and they can do exactly that.”
Pulling said first-timers often try the “classic look” before “growing into all these other looks.”
Those who’ve never done lash extensions before should “start out slow with the classic look and then work your way into the other looks, but also use the GlamCam and that’s a very good way to see what you like,” she said.
Opening the studio is a second career for Pulling who retired from the medical community. While she was interested in the entrepreneurial side of things, she wanted to do something meaningful — a business with the potential to transform, to empower others.
Amazing Lash’s mission and business goals appealed to her.
“I like the way they led. I like the way they empower women and women’ businesses. And they encourage women to be able to do more for themselves,” said Pulling. “I like the whole mission of what they had, so I was very interested in becoming a part of that vehicle to help women empowerment.”

Empowering women can come in many different forms. Pulling wants to empower her employees in their careers. She’s been a mentor all her life. She also wants to empower the women who come through the doors of her business as customers.
“This is going to be more than just a lash studio. It’s going to be a vehicle of change,” said Pulling. “There’s nothing that makes you feel more empowered than selfcare, and I preach that all the time! You have to take care of yourself first in order to take care of other people and as women, in general, especially powerful women, we’re caregivers by design. That’s who we are, and if we can’t care for ourselves then how can we care for others? And when you look beautiful and feel beautiful, and you look in the mirror and have your lashes on, how empowering is that! The eyes are the gateway to your soul, period. That’s been known forever, so how much more so if you can come in and put lashes on to make your gateway look a lot better. Oh, my goodness, it’s phenomenal.”
Pulling hopes her studio will make positive changes within the community by making women look and feel amazing in order to accomplish their goals.
Pulling has scheduled a grand-opening celebration for mid-September. She hopes to have some type of party maybe even a block party with chances to win prizes, take tours of the facility and meet the team.
