The marketing and selling of blood pressure medicine is certainly on the rise if people allow all that is going on in our country and the world, to become internalized.  As one watches the twenty-four hour onslaught of the news, they can not help but find that their blood pressure is on the rise.  In addition to that medical situation, people find that their “worry factor” is almost off the charts.  “What’s going to happen next?  Is it safe to go anywhere any longer?  How will the debt of the United States affect me and even the other countries across the world?  Will my family be safe?  Everything seems to be so unstable that people wonder what will happen to me and my family in the future…even the near future?

We are fed a steady diet of bad and disturbing news every hour of the day and night.  In addition to being fed the bad and threatening news constantly, people are given to wondering, “Just WHO is going to solve all of these problems?”  It seems that it is automatic for us to ask just who will solve the problems and get us out of this mess which plagues us. Nation against nation; wars all over the spectrum of the world; financial problems worldwide; the war on the family; the attack on God’s Church and Christians world wide; the viewing, right in our own living rooms, of a promising young man murdered in cold blood for standing up for what is right and I could go on and on with the situations that seem to threaten life and all that we hold dear.  Things seem so out of hand that no one will be able to solve the impending disasters which are surely on the way.

Let me remind our readers of something that we should already know.  This is not primarily an economic, political, social or military battle we are facing.  First of all, it is SPIRITUAL BATTLE.  The world seems to lack the ability to see through it all and understand that God’s Word tells us we are living in a world that is in a spiritual battle.  Satan is the instigator of trouble, pain and death and the Bible tells us that he is the “prince of this world.”  In Ephesians 2:1-3 we find a crucial piece of scripture.  It is telling us that this unsaved world is conducting itself according to the “prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now works in the sons of disobedience.” This old unredeemed world is following the destructive leadership of satan and that is what is causing all this trouble worldwide as well as in the personal lives of people.  Following satan is really all the world system knows to do because they are under his dominion as pointed out in Ephesians.  In John 10:10, Jesus tells us that the thief…satan…”comes but to steal, kill and destroy” and that is what he is doing all over the world.  But, Jesus comes to give us life “and that we might have it more abundantly.”  So, satan is doing his work of destruction and death everywhere as we have noticed as society falls all around us.  Never forget this truth…this is a Spiritual Battle and we are caught up in it in a big way in these days.  Most people are unaware of it because most people are spiritually blind in spiritually ignorant.  They are unable to “see” what is happening.  Christianity has been so watered down that the people don’t know or understand much about a spiritual battle.

If God’s people would only use the tools God has given us, we would be a bigger part of the solution.  Throughout the New Testament we are told how to defeat the devil.  We are told how to make him flee from our presence.  He can be overcome by Christians according to scripture but too many people don’t know that we have that power and privilege.  Too many people are not being taught the doctrines of the Bible concerning such things because, in our day, the doctrines take second place to fulfilling ourselves.  But they should be central to our teachings and our lives.  We are helpless unless we understand how it all works and how we should be living as Christians in today’s world.

Just remember, we are in a powerful spiritiual battle which has prophetic implications concerning the Second Coming of Jesus and the battle of the ages at Armageddon and then the formation of the new Heavens and the New Earth.  That is what we are heading toward and the only person who can save us is Jesus Himself. Everything that one sees politically around the world is really a part

of the Spiritual Battle of the Ages.  And, if one knows only a little about Biblical prophecy they will have no trouble recognizing happenings of today for what they are: the fulfillment of Biblical prophecy.  Some of the things we see happening today suddenly take their place in the panorama of current events worldwide.

Men can work to end all of this trouble and I am thankful for every one of them that has a part in trying to put a “lid” on all of our situations.  But men may find a way to avert certain things but we must not depend on men totally.  Our first line of defense in the spiritual battle is God Himself.  He is the only one who can end it and if one reads the Bible they will find out what is in the final chapter.  I have often said that I don’t know all the ins and outs of how God intends to win but He will win and I just want to be on His side when He does and you should decide the same thing for yourself by committing your life to Christ.  Then you are on the winning side.
