Genesis 1:1-26
When reading God’s Word, it is easy to see that from the very beginning, God created a world of order. Everything was put in place and had a particular function. Everything was created and established so that man would have a place to live that was as perfect as his Creator. This world was a place of peace and safety and it was created that way so that God’s most wonderful creation, man (both male and female) would have everything he needed in order to function as God intended. They would experience no disorder at all as long as they would do as God commanded.
Well, things went along wonderfully well for a period of time but trouble found its way into God’s order of things sooner or later. Everyone knows the story of how satan came into this wonderful environment that God had made and he brought with him all the seeds of destruction which has turned God’s perfect place into a glorious mess. Wherever God created order, satan has caused disorder and man has been dealing with it ever since. That old devil, who began as the most beautiful angel, was thrust out of heaven and down to the earth the moment he had a single thought about usurping God. He thought he could do a better job than God and the instant he had that thought he was cast out of heaven like a bolt of lightning. When he fell to the earth, all the disobedience, rebellion and destruction we now live with came with him. He just needed man to make it all happen. So, what did he do? He found that man was easily tempted and that he would disobey God with as little as a piece of fruit.
When Eve ate the fruit offered to her by satan and then got Adam to take a bite, sin entered the world and brought all of its destructive and disorderly power with it. Man rebelled against God and has been paying the price ever since. Isn’t it astounding that such a seemingly small sin has multiplied itself into the situation we find ourselves in today. Once man sinned he was at war with God seeking to find a way to have do as he wanted to do and have a good relationship with God at the same time. Time has proven it cannot happen that way. That simple sin has grown so massively that we can easily observe its effect in every corner of the world which God had created in perfect order. He gave man a divinely perfect place to live with no troubles at all. He was to have a magnificent and perfect relationship with God for eternity. Man was not designed to die. He was to live forever in that wonderful environment of the Garden of Eden. That little event of yielding to satan and eating the fruit polluted the world and brought sin and death with it. The reason man was never suppose to die is that sin was not in the world. But, it brought the death that was cause men to die and break their fellowship with God. That broken fellowship would continue on into eternity unless something was done about it. We are now approaching what God did about it as we come to the Birth of Christ at Christmas Time. God got involved personally as He sent His Only Son into the world to undo the disorder and death that satan had caused in his effort to disrupt God’s plan. Man had to be saved from that destruction and God is the only one who could do it.
I have heart people and even preachers say that when God saw what the situation was with Adam and Eve that he went to plan B to help them out of the trouble. Sorry, but that is not a true statement. Our Heavenly Father knew long before the events in the garden when Adam and Eve ate the fruit in rebellion to God. He did not devise a plan B. He didn’t have to. He has always had plan A in place long before the foundation of the world. Redemption from sin was not invented after the sin of man happened. God’s redemption was always in place. Scripture says that Jesus is the Lamb that was slain before the foundation of the world. He has always been God’s Plan. He stands in second place to no one.
All the Biblical history which you can easily read, tells us of how God dealt with man to redeem him. But, then there came the fulness of time when God, in His wisdom, brought Jesus into the world to save us from our sins that had been causing such destruction for centuries. It was time for the person who was to bring salvation to the very people who had rebelled against their Heavenly Father. That salvation was not born here on planet earth. It is entirely God’s way of re-establishing His fellowship with those who are willing to accept it as a free gift.
You see, God’s Gift is the most precious thing He had to give as a sacrifice, an offering, in order to deal with the disorder that the sin of the first man and woman brought into the world through disobedience. The price of their rebellion was high; too high to calculate. It is so high that man could never pay it. So, God paid it when Jesus, His ultimate Gift to us came into the world, died as a sacrifice which satisfied God where man’s sin and rebellion is concerned.
Jesus is the ONLY thing that could ever have paid that high price of our sin to satisfy God and set us free from its power.
As we approach Christmas, we should make ourselves remain more aware of what is behind that wonderful day that we celebrate as the Birthday of Christ.
Your world of disorder and disfunction can be made into one of order and stability through the power of Jesus Christ. People who are Christians can understand what I am saying. Those of the world think it is foolishness. They think we are crazy and that we don’t make sense. But, when one is confronted in their spirit by the person of the Holy Spirit they will be shown in stark reality just how much sense Jesus Christ really makes. And, if they give their heart and life to Jesus in commitment to Him, they will be like millions of others who have had their sins forgiven. They will experience fellowship with God that was disrupted when the first two people on earth sinned and brought destruction into God’s perfect environment.
We don’t have to look far to see that mankind Needs Order in a Disorderly World.
I have good news. I know who can solve our problem and his name is above every name in the universe. His name is Jesus Christ. And everyone who has their relationship with God restored has called on His Name. The truth of the matter is that you must call on His Name also. There is no other way!
