FAITH: Some Things to Think About

The issue of evolution has been discussed, written about and debated ever since Charles Darwin wrote The Origin of the Species.  By the way, later in life he stated that he wished he had never written that divisive book.  But, that is not the subject of this little treatise.  In some of my many moments of musing over spiritual issues, I find that I am asking questions concerning issue that I have never heard anyone bring up.  I can understand why the evolutionists would not bring them up, but I don’t understand why others have not investigated them more and published their thoughts and findings.  There are many questions that could be asked and that should be asked but I am going to raise only a few in this article.

If evolution is true, how did every species of animals and even plants just happen to have evolved to use the same basic process for reproduction?  The male of the species supplies the sperm which fertilizes the egg of the female.  And each one, the sperm and the egg contain half of the genetic code needed to produce another copy of that particular species.  The sperm fertilizes the egg and life begins.  Gestation begins and lasts until the offspring is born in basically the same process.  The genetic materials hold the information of life.  All animals use the very same method.  Why wasn’t a variety of ways of reproducing used by the various species if evolution is true.  Now, I realize that some lower forms of life are different in their reproduction process.  Some single celled creatures simply divide and go their merry way.  But, the animal kingdom and even flowers produce by genetic material being shared.  Flowers have a male part and female part.  The female part must be fertilized just as in the animal kingdom for reproduction to take place.  So, my question:  If evolution is true then why do the many different animals and even plants use the same basic process for reproduction? If evolution was involved then why didn’t some of the many different species form some other kind of basic reproduction process?  It bears thinking about.

For the record, I believe the Bible and trust in God’s Word about how the world and the people who inhabit it came about.  “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”  That is good enough for me.  I don’t question that but people who do have created a morass of confusion and doubt.  And, I also believe that the longer it takes one to explain and try to validate their position on any controversial subject, the further they are from the truth of the issue.

Now let us expand our thought process a little.  If evolution is true, where did the conscience come from which guides basic good morality.  How did creatures which evolved realize that they needed a conscience and good basic morality.  These things are not physical traits but spiritual in nature.  They are part of the soul of man.  And, while we are at it, where did the soul of man come from?  It is spiritual and not physical so it could not have evolved because evolution deals with physical things.  Let’s consider the emotion of love.  Where did it originate along the evolutionary process?  Here again love is a spiritual and emotional trait, not physical.  Who along the path said, “we need a soul?”  And again, “we should evolve a moral code to live by which is governed by a conscience.”  Where did those things come from? The things I have just mentioned can only be acquired from a source which is over and above anything that evolution could have produced if it was true.

Let’s also think about the reality of truth.  It did not evolve because, again, it is not physical but spiritual in nature.  The Scripture speaks often of the truth and its polar opposite, a lie.  The world had nothing to do with producing truth.  It is eternal in nature which is much older than this old earth where evolution originated.  Truth is one of the characteristics of God.  He is absolutely truth with no mixture of lie.  If He possessed one microbe of lie, He would no longer be God.  Truth is part of His holy make-up.  If a person is a saved, they will be possessed by he Spirit of God which cannot lie.  They will have an automatic propensity to tell the truth and never lie.  If they do lie, they have violated their relationship with God in order to do so.  But, God is so loving and filled with Grace that He has provided a way for us to get forgiven for that lie we might have told in a weak moment.  But, a Christian lives in a world that is oriented toward truth because God’s Spirit lives in us and leads us to desire to be truthful.  Truth is truth and it never changes so that eliminates the chance that such a thing as evolution has anything to do with it.  So, we ask the question: “Where did truth come from?”

The Bible answers that question better than any author can.

In another article, I posed this question: If each species evolved to be like it is, then how in the world did all the different species just happen to evolve the same basic processes of life?  All have a mouth.  All have a digestive system and a system by which they draw energy from their food and then a way to eliminate the waste.  All of the different species have a circulatory system with a “heart” and a circulatory system delivering oxygen rich blood to the different parts of its body.  They all have a way of filtering oxygen from the air….lungs for the air and gills for the water.  But all species have a system to use oxygen.  All the species have a reproductive system.  An earthworm has a mouth and so do we.  It has a heart and so do we.  It has all the necessary systems for life that man possesses.   So, if evolution is true why is it that all creatures have basically the same systems for life?

The answer to the situation is that a mighty God created all of life and He created it to live perfectly in its intended environment.  His Word states in Genesis that

“In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth…” Genesis 1:1.  That is the end of the argument for all who believe in God.

Now, I want to say something as graciously as I can: Anyone who believes in evolution has compromised their intelligence in an effort to leave God out of the whole system of creation.  Even some scientists have been saying for years that there is no way that life could have evolved to its present forms.  They say that the odds are too immense for things to have developed through evolution no matter how long the process may have taken.  These men are right.  They are eliminating the argument for evolution from a statistical standpoint and we look at the situation from a spiritual position which recognizes God as the creator of all life.  The Apostle Paul tells us something in Hebrews 11:3 that debunks evolution completely.  He says: “Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.” In other words, God spoke everything into existence and He did not need evolution to make all of the species He put on the earth.

Now, I know that there will be those who will argue with my position but I want to point out something to them:  My position is based on God and their’s is based on human reasoning. Evolution was never a problem until it was brought up by a man, Charles Darwin.  Man always complicates what God has done and they always try to find a way around God.  Won’t work. But it will generate misinformation and confusion and the Theory of Evolution has done a good job of that.  As for me, I want to trust God and His Word on all issues.  That is the only way to be in a safe position with God who is the judge of all things.

A worldly mind will trust Darwin but a Godly mind will trust God on this and other issues.  And, He says that He is the author and creator of all life.

Think on these things.
