Falcons Burger nosediving with repeat health violations

The health inspection world grades a score below 70 as failing, however, no restaurants, pools or hotels received a failing score from inspections on Jan. 6–10.

Worst scores in this week’s health inspection

This week’s lowest health inspection score was a 77 earned by the Riverfront Pub & Sports, located at 531 Broad St., in Augusta.

The inspector noted seeing food build up on kitchen equipment, which resulted in a four point reduction.

“Observed potato slicer had food build up on it,” the report stated. “Have the potato slicer cleaned after every use.”

The inspector also noted observing food stored at an improper temperature, which resulted in a nine point deduction.

“Observed ground beef in [reach-in-cooler] at 46 F, observed sliced tomatoes in [reac-in-cooler] at 43 F,” the report stated.

Following the Riverfront Pub & Sports’ inspection, the second lowest score of the week was an 82 given to Falcons Burger, located at 3050 Washington Road, in Augusta.

The inspector reported observing an employee prepping food without washing hands, a repeated offense for the establishment, which resulted in a nine point reduction.

“Observed employee not begin food prep with washing her hands prior to preparing burger after other miscellaneous tasks around kitchen,” the report stated.

The inspector also witnessed an old inspection score being posted and the facility in an overall poor condition, the latter being another repeat violation

“Observed overall facility in poor condition. Observed large gaps and tiling missing throughout kitchen,” the report stated. “Observed ]walk-in cooler] and [walk-in-freezer] still out of order.”

The third lowest score of the week was a score of 83 given to a Waffle House, located at 3134 Peach Orchard, in Augusta.

From the inspection, the inspector docked four points for noticing food being stored at an improper temperature

“Observed food in PTC and [walk-in-cooler] not being held at 41 F or below,” the report stated.

The inspector also noted seeing waffle batter being used without proper labeling.

“Observed waffle batter in [reach-in-cooler] without prep and discard [dates],” the report stated.
