Family and friends are mourning the loss of an elderly woman from Augusta who was tragically killed in a wrong-way crash on Deans Bridge Road.
Dorothy Morrow, 80, was on her way to church Wednesday night with her 8-year-old great-grandson, Jeremiah Harris, when another car crossed into her lane and struck them. Morrow was pronounced dead at the scene, while Jeremiah suffered a fractured pinky, according to her great-niece, Ange’ L. Smith.
The driver of the other vehicle and several passengers were taken to a local hospital, where they were reported to be in critical condition.
Morrow’s loved ones shared heartfelt memories of her. Michelle Hudson, who knew her since childhood, said, “At 80, she was still a hairstylist. She used to be a model too. She was a very sweet lady and taught me so much about hair! She will be missed greatly.”
A family friend described Morrow as a church-loving woman who enjoyed fishing, noting that it was fitting she was headed to church at the time of the accident.
Smith emphasized that her great aunt would never be forgotten. “She is loved,” Smith said. “Dorothy was born and raised in Clearwater, Florida. She is survived by nine siblings, three children, five grandchildren, and one great-grandson who was with her.”
Dorothy Morrow’s niece, Tata Parker, expressed her heartbreak over the loss of her beloved aunt, who just celebrated her 80th birthday in August. Describing Morrow as a caring, beautiful, and successful hairstylist, Parker shared how much she admired her and how deeply this loss has affected her.
Morrow, known for her love of dancing, fishing, and traveling, made lasting memories with Parker, who spent every summer with her in Augusta. Parker emphasized how much she will be missed and how heartbroken she is over this tragedy.
Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.
