Motorcyclist in Tuesday’s fatal accident identified

David Mark Auvenshine II, 46, of Waynesboro Ga. was killed Tuesday in the motorcycle crash on I-520 and Doug Bernard Parkway.  He was pronounced dead on the scene at 6:10 p.m., according to an email from Richmond County coroner Mark Bowen.

An early evening accident Tuesday has left a least one dead.

At 5:43 p.m., Richmond County Deputies responded to Bobby Jones Expressway near Doug Bernard Parkway in reference to an accident involving a motorcycle and a tractor-trailer, according to an email from the Richmond County Sheriff’s Department.

There is one confirmed fatality. Deputies are in the early stages of the investigation. The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The westbound lanes of Bobby Jones Expressway are partially blocked as this investigation continues and motorists are encouraged to seek an alternate route.
