Fight between middle schoolers leads to one injured, one criminally charged

Columbia County School District sent out a notification on Monday, Nov. 4 to make parents aware of an incident in which two Greenbrier Middle School students were involved in a physical altercation in the gym during PE class.

This altercation occurred this afternoon, Monday Nov. 4.

One student sustained injuries from the incident and one student is being criminally
charged and also held accountable according to the student code of conduct.

According to the statement released by the school district, this incident was “not a true emergency,” but because it happened in the presence of other students, the district felt it was important to notify parents.

The statement further reads: “Inappropriate physical contact is not acceptable and will not be tolerated.”
