Fire closes a portion of Fury’s Ferry Road

The Columbia County Fire Rescue responded to a call on Thursday morning about a fire at an abandoned structure on Fury’s Ferry Road.

According to Janeabeth Wells with Columbia County, the call came in at 9:16 a.m. about a fire near the intersection of Fury’s Ferry Road and Twin Lakes Drive. As of 10:45 a.m., the fire was under control and firefighters were working on extinguishing hot spots.

She said there were no reported injuries at this time. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The fire caused a portion of Fury’s Ferry and Riverwatch Parkway to be shut down.
