The planned foreclosure sale of seven parcels of land in Riverside Village have been delayed a second time.

Prior to the start of Monday’s monthly session of foreclosure sales at the Aiken County courthouse, the attorneys representing First Community Bank and Greenstone Hammond’s Ferry, LLC, were called into the Master in Equity’s office.

Moments later, a court employee announced the item had been withdrawn but could be rescheduled for a future date.

Foreclosure sales are scheduled for the first Monday of every month. However, the first Monday in September is Labor Day. According to the Master in Equity website, “When the first Monday of a month falls on a county or state holiday or when there are other unusual circumstances, the sale may be moved to the next business day.”

Although the city of North Augusta is not a party to the foreclosure sale, Administrator Jim Clifford was in attendance Monday morning.

“I think that the good news is it looks like the parties are negotiating behind the scenes, and anything that’s going to allow us to continue forward on construction of Riverside Village is a good development,” Clifford said. “So, we’ll remain optimistic. We’ll see what occurs here with the parties involved but again, from the city’s perspective, all of the taxes have been paid up through this year so there’s still time to work through this… but we’d like to see forward movement on the entire Riverside Village project.”

The seven parcels were first scheduled for a foreclosure sale July 5. However, attorneys for First Community Bank and Greenstone Hammond’s Ferry, LLC, asked the judge to postpone the sale to give the two sides a chance to negotiate a settlement.

Neither of the attorneys were available for comment on the latest postponement.

There are seven pieces of real estate in North Augusta’s Riverside Village development at stake.

The judgement amount listed is just under $3.1 million.
