A former employee at the Augusta State Medical Prison was granted a $20,000 bond Tuesday, Jan. 18, on charges of sexual assault by person with supervisory or disciplinary authority, and criminal attempt to trade with inmates.

Erica R. Jenkins, 46, had been held without bond since her arrest Thursday. Richmond County Magistrate Judge Le’Joi Williamson read the warrants against Jenkins Tuesday at his initial appearance in court and set the bond.

Jenkins is accused of attempting to trade 6.5 ounces of tobacco with an inmate on Thursday. She is also accused of having sexual contact with an inmate on Sept. 15.

Jenkins told the judge she earned a high school diploma and associate’s degree. She is the mother of two children.
