Four teams one step closer to Peach Jam title

NORTH AUGUSTA – Four teams remain with a shot to win the Nike Elite Basketball League Peach Jam Championship after Friday’s Elite Eight showdown.

Team Takeover took down Brad Beal Elite 65-52 with their lockdown defense, forcing them to shoot 37% from the field.

Patrick Ngongba led Team Takeover scoring with 14 points, shooting 6-7 from the field.

Jacoi Hutchinson also filled up the stat sheet with eight points, seven assists and two rebounds.

In other action, Mokan Elite dominated the second half of its game to pass Indy Heat 68-53 with former and current NBA legends in attendance. Juwan Howard, a two-time NBA champion and coach of the Michigan Wolverines, watched on the sideline, possibly looking for his next collegiate star at Michigan. Ten-time NBA all-star Carmelo Anthony also was in attendance.

Mokan Elite ended the first half down 28-21, but outscored Indy Heat 25-6 in the third quarter, leading them to a comeback victory.

Omaha Bilew was one of the leading scorers for Mokan Elite, finishing with 14 points, six rebounds and two assists. Kyle Pock led the team as well with 14 points and two steals.

Houston Hoops blew past City Rocks 74-58, holding them to 35% from the field. Amier Ali led the Hoops scoring with 16 points and six rebounds.

The last team headed to Saturday’s Final Four is Team Durant after defeating Team Final 73-70 in overtime. Amani Hansberry led Team Durant with 21 points and 11 rebounds. In the loss, Justin Edwards finished with respectful 24 points, shooting 7-for-10 from three.

Team Durant will matchup against Team Takeover tomorrow at 5 p.m. Houston Hoops will faceoff against Mokan Elite 6:30 p.m. The winner of these two games will head play in the Peach Jam Championship on Sunday at 3:30 p.m.

All games take place at North Augusta Riverview Activities Center.
