ATLANTA, Ga. — Georgia students will learn money skills in a new way this fall, through live music presented by a national nonprofit.

Funding the Future, a nonprofit that teaches money management skills through live concerts, is touring schools statewide this fall alongside Americana singer-songwriter Carter Hulsey, according to a press release from the organization.

The tour runs from Sept. 22 through Oct. 6 and includes stops at schools in Augusta, Gainesville, Macon, Waynesboro and other communities.

Each program transforms an ordinary school day into a concert experience, with Hulsey using original songs, visuals and personal stories to help students connect with lessons about saving, spending, and planning for the future, according to a press release from Funding the Future.

“This partnership empowers the next generation of Georgians with the tools they need to succeed,” said Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, whose office is sponsoring the tour. “By connecting music and financial literacy, Funding the Future ensures students are ready to face adulthood with confidence and make decisions that will shape their future success.”

Since its founding in 2014, Funding the Future has reached more than 308,000 students across 36 states, Washington, D.C., and Canada.

The nonprofit’s concerts emphasize practical money skills like budgeting and smart spending while encouraging students to “dream big.”

Hulsey, who hails from Joplin, Missouri, has been praised for blending heartfelt songwriting with an Americana sound that resonates with young audiences. His 2021 album Start Staying reflects the same mix of energy and authenticity he brings to the stage during these interactive shows.

Stops on the Georgia tour include T.W. Josey High School, Davidson Fine Arts Magnet School, Butler High School, Burke County High School, and the Academy of Classical Education, among others.
